I would like to ask this question, if the Quran ordains 100 lashes for the crime, and jail time is ordered instead , would not that be going against the Quran as well, because order is 100 lashes clearly(unless there is another interpretation). But if the change in punishment is allowed then what is quranic basis for it,which justifies jail time against lashes, if any one can give me an answer it will be greatly appreciated.

Answer is, NO there is no other punishment than 100 lashes – FULL STOP. Today, the so called Islamic countries have nothing Islamic except their names.

regarding the floging punishment, I have found this article by Arnold Yasin giving arguments that “miiah jilda” can be interpreted as 100 days confinement. Any comments will be appreciated.
